Jurong Lake District | Jurong Gateway Will Be The Gateway

Jurong Lake District | Jurong Gateway Will Not Just Be The Regional Hub by 2020

Jurong Lake District (JLD) and Jurong Gateway were mentioned by PM Lee in this year National Day Rally 2014. Singaporeans can look forward to see Jurong Lake District and Jurong Gateway not just be a regional hub but also a transformed town district with integrated park facility progressively in the next few decades.

Presently, although there are three separate gardens namely Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden and Jurong Lake Garden, the number of visitors to these park areas is not as high as other parks like Bishan-Ang Mo Kio. Therefore, URA will be also doing a study to explore the feasibility of combining these three gardens into a single one for Singaporeans to enjoy. A new Science Centre will be also built near Chinese Garden Mrt at Jurong Lake Garden.

The southern part of Jurong Lake District (JLD) may be also evolving from an industrial estate to probably residential areas after those industrial lease being expired in 20-25 years. I would think that this will certainly spur up a much longer term property growth potential within the precinct of Jurong Lake District.  Currently, this regional hub is already transforming with the serial launches of  Jcube, Jem, Westgate as well as the upcoming launch of The Big Box Warehouse Retail outlet and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

To the businesses, if they operate within Jurong Gateway or in other parts of Jurong Lake District, they will stand better advantage of getting labor resources with surrounding towns like Jurong East, Jurong West, Clementi and Bukit Batok. Not to also mention that there are many MNCs and SMEs located with International Business Park, Science Parks,  Jurong and Tuas areas.

Lastly, there is a closer clue now as where will be the high speed rail (HSR) site to be located. If the feasibility study of HSR site has no other surprises such as technical challenges in a heavily populated area like Jurong or if the cost and security are not the most important factors of  considerations, this HSR site may jolly well located in Jurong Lake District (JLD)!
